As an* Actuarial Analyst IIfor our *Payment Integrity team, you will be part of a new team that will provide you with the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally with several teams across Premera. Your work product will be a cohesive story that will bind a variety of work across teams. The work will have big impact potential in that your team will be working to make sure we are paying our providers of medical services correctly. Your predictive analytics will also have a lot of visibility with executive leaders in support of our corporate goal around operating income and formulating new best in class policy and procedure.

What you’ll do:

  • Gather data and perform actuarial calculations related to healthcare and insurance for both internal and external customers

  • Monitor and validate data from internal departments, review it for content and accuracy, and identify associated problems

  • Produce actionable dashboarding and perform ROI calculations

  • Consult with customers to assess scope and complexity of projects, provide status updates and complete projects accurately and efficiently

  • Prepare written documentation, present findings and provide a peer review trail on all projects

  • Seek out opportunities for process improvement or to gain efficiencies and take the lead role to implement

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, computer science or related field or four (4) years’ work experience

  • Two (2) years of actuarial analysis experience

  • Knowledge of health insurance concepts/terms and experience in health insurance and/or an actuarial department is preferred

  • Proficient with Excel and SQL and/or other data querying tools

  • Strong project management to include time management and multi-tasking

  • Experience with data visualization tools – Tableau would be a plus

  • Excellent analytic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team, both within the direct team and cross-functionally

  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail

  • Must be able to conduct self and peer-reviews to ensure accuracy of work products
