As a Data Integration Specialist – HL7/X12for our Data and Analytics team, you will be the primary operator on a new technology suite. It will make the translation of real-time clinical data from medical service providers into data models and dashboards in support of data science. This ground-breaking work will allow Premera to deliver better health outcomes at lower costs to members. This is your opportunity to use your expertise in medical data in the data science arena.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, build, and maintain integrated datasets that cross source systems primarily in the HL7 gateways space

  • Negotiate and make changes to clinical interfaces as requested

  • Partner with analytic leaders to implement data solutions by determining customer requirements and ensuring solutions meet delivery and project specific specifications

  • Design, build, and maintain complex multi-application data models and high performance database processing environments

  • Ensure work supports Premera’s procedures and policies including best practices, HIPAA compliance control requirements, and Premera security requirements

  • Stay current with best practices, tools, and methods; revise, develop and implement new standards, methods, tools, procedures, and processes as appropriate to remain at forefront

  • Follow standard test plans to test each solution and ensure that configured functionality meets the needs defined

  • Provide status reporting to analytic management, and business owners on project updates, support efforts and issues

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or other technical/quantitative discipline

  • Four (4) years’ experience in data architecture, design, and/or management which includes experience:

  • Connecting to healthcare data sources such as HL7 gateways and caches, HIE, billing systems, claims, labs

  • Using leading Extract Transform Load (ETL) tools, and data handling and analytic software including Python, Hadoop, R, SAS, Tableau

  • Expertise with healthcare specific regulatory requirements for data management

  • Experience providing data integration services within healthcare organizations

  • Significant knowledge of health care and the health care industry; knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms

  • Experience with relational database programming

  • Thorough knowledge of common integration topologies such as Hub and Spoke, Network, and Bus

  • Strong understanding of web services, including Single Sign-On best practices, REST API, and SOAP API, Trigger and Performance Tuning
